Commitment to Accessibility

At Arekibo, we believe in inclusivity and strive to create an online experience that accommodates a diverse range of needs and abilities. We are deeply committed to ensuring that all our websites are accessible to all clients and users. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and experience throughout our development teams to deliver accessible and usable content

Our goal is to adhere to the highest accessibility standards and ensure our website and development work aligns with the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level, as recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Arekibo also enjoy the challenge of rising to and meeting accessibility requirements; it ensures we are thinking of all our users and sometimes tests us to provide interesting, user focused solutions we wouldn’t have otherwise considered. We believe that accessibility augments the user experience and so endeavour to attain the highest level possible in as many criteria as possible, with AA our minimum standard.

Our Approach

To achieve our accessibility goals, we continuously assess and improve our website to ensure it respects the four core principles of the WCAG:

  • Perceivable - Information and interface elements are presented in ways that all users can perceive, including those with visual or auditory impairments.
  • Operable - Navigation and interface components are usable by everyone, including those relying on keyboard navigation or assistive technologies.
  • Understandable -The content and interface are designed to be easy to read, navigate, and interact with.
  • Robust - The website supports a variety of devices, browsers, and assistive technologies.

Accessibility Features

Some of the specific measures we have implemented include:

  • Alternative text for images and non-text content to aid screen reader users.
  • Clear, consistent navigation and headings to enhance usability.
  • Sufficient colour contrast (1:7 normal text, 1:4.5 large text) between text and background elements for readability.
  • Keyboard-friendly navigation for all interactive elements.
  • Compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Responsive designs and development that ensure continued accessible support on all devices.
  • Extensive use of Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) roles and attributes to provide the greatest quality ease of use possible.

Ongoing Efforts

As web and browser technologies evolve, accessible development is an equally evolving process. Arekibo are deeply committed to regularly reviewing and improving our work to address potential barriers to access for our users, as well as considering our clients requirements. We conduct periodic audits and updates to stay in compliance with current standards and where possible, to incorporate user feedback. Continued development and integration methods are used to ensure that accessibility concerns are addressed throughout our staged deliveries.

Third-Party Content

We strive to make all areas of our website accessible however, some third-party content, libraries or applications may not fully meet accessibility standards. We address this where possible, though it is not always possible to ensure the same ongoing commitment to our internal accessibility requirements by these suppliers. We encourage feedback on any challenges you may face when interacting with such content.
